Showing Love

This first month back has been full in so many ways. We have had a lot of things to do just to get settled into our new home. One never really realizes how difficult it is to communicate some of the most basic things until you are on your own, one on one with the sales person, and they don't speak English.

While enduring a struggle it seems like time is standing still. You begin to perspire, you feel all the other Thai people watching, you know they understand exactly what the salesman is saying and you are the only one who does not get it. At one point we had about 15 people from the other departments just watching the show. However, with God's help, we have managed to purchase mattresses and a refrigerator and have them successfully delivered to our house.

I always wonder what they think when they see us coming into the store.  We are probably on YouTube somewhere in one of our purchase adventures. It has all been mostly fun and it has helped us learn a few new words. We are however, thankful for God's provision of a house with lots of open space to host small groups and youth.

Large space for ministry

Even a Bathtub!
We found the house to rent and are excited about the possibility it brings for space for ministry and the gift of hospitality to the Thai people.

The other ways we have been filled is through spending time with the students, sharing English and giving and receiving love. This past week we talked about how Jesus loves us all no matter what our past is like. We told the story of Zacchaeus and even though he was a sinner Jesus came, loved him and was a guest in his house. We talked about people we love and with the upcoming Valentine's had the kids make cards for someone they love.

Noah and Hannah Grace have shared their love and talents with the students. Noah seems to draw a crowd of boys when they begin to feel the beat of the djembe.

Hannah Grace likes the singing, drama and dance. She expresses her love to the students by showing them that sometimes you just have to put yourself out there!
